Shock as blood ‘all over the pavement’ after man stabbed in chest

Witnesses have spoken of their shock after a man was stabbed in broad daylight in Doncaster and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
South Yorkshire Police were called to Balby Road this afternoon at 2.20pm to reports of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest.
The victim was taken to hospital in an ambulance where he is currently in a critical condition.
Witnesses reported seeing police, fire and ambulance services on the scene shortly after the attack.
One witness, who has asked to be identified only as Paul, said he was driving past the scene at the time and saw blood “all over the pavement”.
He said: “I was driving past at the time, held up at the lights on the other side of the road, and it looked like he had just jumped over the bars.
“I thought he had just fallen and hit his head or been hit by a car but there were a few people around him trying to help.
“There was blood all over the pavement. I don’t think it looks good. I hope he pulls through.”
South Yorkshire Police said: “We received a call at 2:20pm today (28 September) alerting us to reports of a stabbing on Balby Road in Doncaster.
“Upon officers’ arrival, a 26 year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest, he has been taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition.”
Police have currently closed Balby Road and nearby Sandford Road while they conduct enquiries.
Drivers are reporting queues and congestion leading to Balby Road and Google Maps is showing around three miles of slow-moving traffic up to Markets Roundabout.
