Pensioner on scooter seriously hurt after being hit by Audi

A pensioner suffered serious injuries in a collision at a busy junction in Doncaster.

The 78-year-old was hurt when the white Piaggio scooter he was riding collided with what is believed to have been a dark grey Audi A5 on the A638 Bawtry Road, at the junction with Gliwice Way, on Friday at around 7.25pm. Both vehicles are understood to have been travelling east toward Bessacarr.

The injured rider, from Doncaster, was taken to hospital where he remained yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision on Bawtry Road, Doncaster, yesterday evening (Friday) to get in touch…

“Were you travelling along Bawtry Road yesterday? Did you witness the collision?

“Officers are especially keen to hear from any motorists who may hold dashcam footage of the collision.

“Please call 101 or email footage to, quoting incident number 830 of 25 September 2020.”
