Mystery as body of man found near burning car in country road

A body of a man has been found near to a car that was on fire in a Sheffield street.
South Yorkshire Police were called at 10.15pm last night, Wednesday, after a report from the fire service that a car was on fire in Mortimer Road, Stannington.
The body of a man had been found near to the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification has not yet taken place but his family have been informed.
Police are treating the death as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.
The road remained closed this morning, Thursday, and motorists where being advised to divert through Low Bradfield.
Sheffield Council’s Streets Ahead team tweeted out to say: “Please be aware that due to a police incident we have had to close Mortimer Road from Windy Bank to Agden Side Road.
“Diversion Through Low Bradfield. We will update when the closure has been taken off. Thanks.”
