A man who died after being found seriously injured in a Barnsley house has been named for the first time as the pair accused of murdering him appeared in court.
Alexandru Rizea, 43, was found by police in a house in Pinder Oakes Cottages on Monday (October 12) before being taken to hospital where he died two days later.
Gabriel Andrei, 40, and Ionel Florin Andrei, 44, appeared in Sheffield Magistrates Court today (Thursday) in relation to his death and an alleged attack on another 44-year-old man.
The pair, both of Pinder Oaks Cottages, have been charged with murder and wounding with intent.
The charges are so serious they can only be dealt with at crown court so the case was sent to Sheffield Crown Court.
The pair are due to appear in that court on Monday (October 19). They were remanded into custody until then.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said officers discovered Mr Rizea after a 44-year-old man went to Kendray Hospital at 8am on Monday with serious injuries to his head.
After questioning the man in hospital about how he came to suffer the injuries, officers were led to the house in Pinder Oakes Cottages.
Mr Rizea was found inside the house with significant injuries.
The two defendants were arrested at the scene and subsequently charged.
