Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Balby stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 26-year-old was stabbed in Balby yesterday.

Emergency services including police and ambulance were called to Balby Road, Doncaster yesterday (September 28) at 2.20pm, to reports that a man had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man was stab wounds to his chest.

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance where police have confirmed he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Witnesses reported seeing “blood all over the pavement” at the scene.

One man, asked to be identified only as Paul, said: “I was driving past at the time, held up at the lights on the other side of the road, and it looked like he had just jumped over the bars.

“I thought he had just fallen and hit his head or been hit by a car but there were a few people around him trying to help.

“There was blood all over the pavement. I don’t think it looks good. I hope he pulls through.”

A 30-year-old man has today been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is currently in police custody and South Yorkshire Police have asked anyone with information that may help their investigation call 101 quoting incident number 404 of 28 September 2020.
