The mother and step-father of a two-year-old boy who was killed in his Doncaster home are due to be sentenced today.
Sarah O’Brien, 33, was found guilty of child cruelty and causing or allowing the death of Keigan O’Brien.
The little boy died in January this year and his step-father, Martin Currie, 36, was found guilty of murder and child cruelty.
The couple were found guilty of their heinous crimes at a trial in Sheffield Crown Court, which lasted for five weeks.
The court heard that Currie had been looking after little Keigan in the family home in Bosworth Road, Doncaster while O’Brien was out of the house.
Jurors heard that Keigan suffered a bleed on the brain which was consistent with having his head hit against a wall or the floor.
It took the couple two hours to ring the emergency services for help, after Keigan was found to be unresponsive and not breathing.
The couple are being sentenced today at Sheffield Crown Court and we will update you on the hearing in our blog below.
