Heavy police presence after empty building reveals criminal operation

Police have discovered a cannabis farm inside an empty building in the Attercliffe area of Sheffield.
A “heavy police presence” was reported to have been spotted near a bar in Attercliffe this afternoon.
The account ‘imjustsheff’ posted a short video of at least four police vans parked on Chapel Lane and Worksop Road.
“Heavy police presence near Samara lounge on Attercliffe”, the post read.
South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that they were responding to reports of “suspicious activity” at an old building in Chapel Lane.
The report came in early this morning and, on investigation, officers found a cannabis farm inside the empty building.
Police remain at the scene conducting enquiries and have said that they are likely to remain there for much of today.
South Yorkshire Police said: “At around 7.15am today (7 October), police received reports of suspicious activity at a disused building in Chapel Lane, Attercliffe.
“When officers arrived, they discovered a cannabis cultivation inside the building.
“Police will remain on scene today as enquiries continue.”
