Fear and anger as South Yorkshire brands Tier 2 rule ‘ridiculous’

Those living in South Yorkshire have branded the new level of coronavirus restrictions in the county as “ridiculous”.
This means that mixing of households indoors is banned, both in private homes and in hospitality venues.
But pubs and bars will remain open under this level of restriction.
Those living in South Yorkshire have said these new measures are “ridiculous”.
Janet Crispin said: “Well I’m sorry but I think this is ridiculous, it’s again effecting business that may not recover.”
Joanne Tennick added: “So hospitality remains open? But you can’t mix with other households in them? How does that work then?”
Jack Wood was also not happy with the announcement and said: “And what are you going to do to protect the businesses that rely on mixing? And what support will you provide to people who can’t leave their homes due to disabilities?”
However, others are worried this won’t be enough and measures may have to go further.
Laura Fish said: “It’s not great news, but the rules here are clearly laid out.
“I hope that these measures are sufficient enough to suppress the virus – but if not, a drastic change in thinking has to happen, as we can’t continue to live in this manner.”
Currently the Liverpool City region is the only place in the country in the highest alert level.
This area is under the “very high” level of Tier 3 which means that household mixing is banned both indoors and outdoors and pubs, bars, casinos and betting shops have been told to close.
It is understood that Boris Johnson will explain more about these measures at 6pm in a live coronavirus briefing.
