Cyclist dies in level crossing crash with huge disruption on trains

A cyclist has died after an accident with a car on a level crossing near Doncaster.
Emergency services were called at 8.33am to a level crossing in Babworth, which connects trains travelling to Doncaster and Retford.
There had been reports of a crash between a car and a cyclist.
British Transport Police confirmed this afternoon that the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident caused the trains lines to be blocked for a number of hours with several trains either cancelled or delayed on the route.
The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to police custody for questioning.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to a level crossing in Babworth at 8.33am today (20 November) following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist.
“Paramedics also attended however very sadly, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to police custody for questioning.”
